A long weekend is a thing of rare and unparalleled serenity. And lucky us, there are two of those around the corner. September couldn't be off to a better start than this. The only thing that could kill your joy is when you don't have an answer to that inevitable question- what plans for the weekend? Too broke to head to Goa? Too lazy to trek? And too guilty to wastefully sleep away the entire weekend?
Here's a list of five ways to spend your weekend and not want to kick yourself at the end of it.
Watch any five must-see movies:
You probably have a bucket list of epic movies you always told yourself you'd watch, but passed up for something trashy your friends wanted to watch instead. Make a list of your top five must-watch films, or just do a Google search for the best movies of all time. Make lots of popcorn and get ready for a movie marathon like never before.
Get drunk with an old friend
Pick up your phone and call a friend that you haven't talked to in over three months. If they're busy, keep calling more till you find someone who's free (not everyone leaves precious long weekends unplanned after all!). Make plans, catch up, party hard and paint the town red. It'll definitely make the effort worth it.
Learn something new
In this world of self-learning, there are plenty of online tools, apps and resources to help you get started in the journey to learn something new. Download a free language app like Duolingo, Memrise or Busuu. Or look up Youtube videos for a new recipe and get cooking. Basically, do the new.
Contribute to Wikipedia
For the nerdy ones amongst you, head over to Wikipedia and look up anything that you're significantly familiar with. It could be your old school or college or even your favorite actor. Edits are open for collaboration to everyone, so you can fill up the blanks for missing facts. Make sure you state your sources though. You can proudly sit back at the end of it and read your edits like its your own baby.
Get walkin' 'n explorin'
Pick any part of your city, put on your walking shoes, grab your headphones and spend an evening exploring it on foot. You might discover your next favorite drinking joint or curio store, who knows. If nothing else, you'll have got yourself some exercise!
